Put In The Reps.
Designed by Andrew Ference for rugby training, BallSack pairs your rugby ball with resistance work for your grip, arms and core. Watch Andrew’s demonstration above, then follow the setup below.
Every BallSack Is Unique
Each BallSack is hand sewn by Andrew Ference using deadstock fabrics. Every piece is unique, with colours and fabric combinations that vary. Your BallSack may differ from the examples pictured.
How To Use BallSack
- Fit your ball. Place your rugby ball into the holder with the two straps around it, leaving most of the surface exposed.
- Add resistance. Connect the resistance band and attachment to the holder, following the setup shown in the video. Use a secure anchor suitable for resistance training and check the connections before you begin.
- Grip the ball itself. Keep your fingers on the exposed ball surface, rather than using the straps as handles.
- Practise the passing movement. Hold onto the ball and work through controlled passing motions against the band’s resistance.
- Vary your stance. Work through different leg positions as Andrew demonstrates, keeping the movement controlled.
What Andrew Designed It To Train
- Grip strength: your hands and fingers work directly on the rugby ball.
- Core engagement: resisted passing movements bring your core into the exercise.
- Arms and hands: resistance adds work through the passing motion.
- Rugby-specific movement: practise with the feel of your ball while varying your stance.
Andrew’s goal is to help players build strength for passing and contact, and feel more prepared for rugby. These are training aims, rather than guaranteed performance results.
